FitRival ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data when you use the FitRival mobile application ("the App").
By using FitRival, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
Account Information
- Name and email address provided through Apple Sign In or Google Sign In
- Profile photo (if you choose to set one)
- Display name you choose within the App
Health & Fitness Data (with your explicit permission)
- Workout sessions (type, duration, calories)
- Step count and daily activity
- Heart rate data
- Distance and speed metrics
- This data is sourced from Apple HealthKit (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android)
App Usage Data
- Challenge participation and scores
- Streak history and activity records
- Friend connections within the App
- Push notification tokens (to deliver notifications)
Technical & Analytics Data
- Crash reports and error logs via Sentry (anonymized)
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and provide the App's features (challenges, streaks, leaderboards)
- Display your activity and progress within the App
- Send push notifications about challenges, friends, and streaks
- Identify and fix bugs and improve App performance
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your data for advertising or sell your data to any third party for marketing purposes.
4. Health Data
FitRival treats health data with the highest level of care:
- Read-only access: We only read health data — we never write to or modify your health records unless you explicitly enable workout export
- Never sold: Health data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose other than powering your FitRival experience
- Stored securely: Health data is stored encrypted in our secure backend (Supabase)
- Your control: You can revoke health data access at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android)
- Not medical advice: Data displayed in FitRival is for fitness tracking only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following trusted service providers necessary to operate the App:
- Supabase — our database and authentication backend. Your account data and activity records are stored here. Supabase maintains industry-standard security practices.
- Sentry — crash reporting and error monitoring. Only anonymized technical data is sent to Sentry to help us identify and fix bugs.
- Apple / Google — authentication is handled through Apple Sign In and Google Sign In. We receive only the information you authorize during sign-in.
All service providers are bound by data processing agreements and are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time through Settings → Account → Delete Account within the App. Upon deletion:
- Your profile, activity history, and challenge data are permanently deleted
- Your data is removed from our active databases within 30 days
- Anonymized aggregate data may be retained for analytics but cannot be linked back to you
You can also export your data before deletion through Settings → Account → Export Data.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encrypted data storage
- Secure authentication via Apple and Google
- Regular security reviews
However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your data using best practices.
8. Children's Privacy
FitRival is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at fitrival@hotmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
9. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction: Update your profile information through the App's settings
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data through the App
- Export: Download your data via Settings → Account → Export Data
- Opt out of notifications: Disable push notifications through your device's notification settings
- Revoke health access: Remove health data access at any time through device settings
